When I look back at the photo albums of my childhood, I rarely see my mom in the pictures of my life. I stumbled across one recently that my dad had taken of my mom looking down at my lovingly as I rested fast asleep in a wrap on her chest. As a mom myself now, that picture carries a heavier meaning and connection. I know that feeling behind that smile and the gravity of the love you have for a child that sometimes seems like it may crush you because it’s so strong.
As moms, we tend to be the historian and documenter of the family. We’re the ones watching moments unfold and rushing to grab the camera to capture your child’s first taste of sweet potato. Unfortunately this approach leaves out a very significant part of your family’s story – you.
Trust me, I get why we (yes, I am in the club) are not in enough pictures. Maybe we’re the better photographer so it’s just easier to take the picture. Maybe we’re don’t have makeup on, we’re not wearing a bra or we just feel like we look less than picture ready. Or maybe you’re not thrilled about not having lost all the baby weight just yet.
Live in pictures for your family’s sake – they want to see you.
Live in pictures so your children can see your special connection and the fun things you did together.
Live in pictures so that your whole life story is showcased.
Live in pictures because you deserve to be a part of your special story.
Whether you’re in your gym clothes or just doing your usual routine, turn the camera around. You NEED to be in pictures with your family and children.
