There was a time many years ago when I drank a minimum of 2 cokes a day. Water was boring and typically my last liquid choice. I drank a bunch of water while I played sports but outside of that, coke was my treat and sugar rush.
Today I treat water with a whole lot more respect. Proper water intake has completely changed my health and I want to encourage you to drink more water now!
The first thing to consider is that our bodies are made up of 60% water. Water is a part of all the different elements of our body. It’s critical for proper body functions that each element of the body is properly hydrated. Adequate hydration effects circulation, digestion, the transportation of nutritions and even homeostasis.
Second, water is essential for powering your muscles. When there isn’t enough water in your muscles, it causes them to shrink and lose their strength due to the imbalance of fluids and electrolytes. I know that after a night of too many beers, my weight lifting sessions suffer because my muscles aren’t properly hydrated.
Lastly, water is essential to the proper function of your kidneys which rid your body of toxins. To keep these essential organs functioning in tip top shape, drink all the water!
So if you’re not drinking .5 oz to 1 oz per pound of body weight, get to drinking! Grab a large water jug or a sweet new 32oz Hydroflask and get to sipping! I have a sick water bottle obsession but there could be worst addictions!
Have you tried increasing your water intake? If so, did you get great results? I’d love to hear from you!
