I have been reflecting on what this blog stands for, why I continue show up to write and the ponder what content resonates the most to the readers that I have. To be honest, I feel like this blog isn’t a success. It feels like my tiny little place in the universe – a far off post that a lost web goer may stumble upon. Often it feels lonely but never the less I find it a cathartic place for me to share messages and information to others.
I’m constantly reminded each day that others are doing this blogging/personal wellness brand thing better than me. I see on social media those who I look up and how many followers they have and feel discouraged because my own numbers (readers, followers, engagement.) They have better pictures, better content and hell, they are making a living doing it! Just playing the comparison game alone is enough to discourage anyone from even getting in the game. When I start to slip down this slippery slope of comparison, discouragement and negative talk, I have to flip it out and remind myself that –
Every person who excels in their line of work/hobby or is the top of their industry started as a beginner. A beginner who made mistakes, stumbled, fell flat on their face and overcame many obstacles to be where they are today.
What made them different was the courage to keep showing up, keep failing, kept taking little steps and not quitting even when the waters got rough because they believed so passionately in the work they were doing.
Stop saying you’re not good enough, stop comparing yourself to other people, stop saying “who am I to do this thing,” because the truth is – you are good enough, your message is meant to be heard and you deserve to fulfill your passion for the things you love. If you want to achieve your goals, focus on each day and those little steps toward making them come true. Don’t get side tracked but others are doing – just do you and do it little by little and if you stay persistent, you can achieve your goals.
