I was recently reminded about the fragility of life and health. If you turn on the news for two minutes, you’ll also get that reminder as the stories of tragedy and heartbreak wash over you.
We only have this very moment – this breath, this instance to be present in life. It’s freeing to know that all you need to truly focus on is the here and now and let go of getting sucked into the memories of the past that don’t serve you or projecting into the future which can cause stress and anxiety.
As we learn to be present in the here and now, it’s time to embrace the word “no”. People pleasing doesn’t serve you and saying yes to things that don’t light you up or give you energy is not the way to spend your precious time. Be selfish with listening to your heart and what makes it happy. Say “no” more – say it today to social media, gossip, mindless web surfing, Netflix binging or procrastination. Free yourself from what you think others want you to do and listen to your instincts on what to say YES or even, HELL YES to.
Embracing “no” gives you the permission to be here now and do what YOU need to do to find happiness and peace. You are here for a reason so use this tool to take back control of your present.
